In the EnCraft cabinetry shop, we view ourselves as Craftspeople first and foremost. We are the antithesis of a big-box store, in that all our cabinets are high-touch from start to finish, beginning with the wood we mill in-house right down to the final coat of paint, which is hand-brushed to provide a classic finish with more depth in the light. Ultimately, we very consciously straddle the line between New World Technology and Old World Craftsmanship, cutting all the cabinet parts we can using CNC and numerically controlled machines, and then assembling our cabinets by hand, the way they would have been constructed in the old days. Our paint process uses a water-based primer and top coat that are LEED compliant and low VOC. For our drawer boxes, we use 5/8″ hard maple with 1/2″ maple ply bottoms, fully enclosed in dados. The box corners are rabbeted using mechanical reinforcement with walnut dowels.
